Welcome to this place I like to think of as a summer camp for you and all your parts! Picture arriving with every part of yourself welcomed, especially the ones that feel invisible, rejected, or pushed aside. I especially want these tender parts to find a home by the campfire
.
I’m Lisa. I’ve been writing for over 30 years, but it wasn’t until 2023 that I started sharing my words with others.
I often find myself living in the tension between who I thought I should be and who I truly am. The struggle seems to be part of the journey, and as I lean into the questions - letting go of my desperate need to know -beauty and clarity slowly emerge, and I find myself living more in the answers.
As I share my experiences through words and pictures, my hope is to spark something within you. As I practice noticing and naming what’s happening within me, maybe a tender part of you that’s been quietly tucked away will feel safe enough to peek out.
My writing is rooted in a Biblical worldview that embraces the bigger story: creation, fall, redemption, and restoration. I believe God is at the center of everything—the Creator who designed all things as they were meant to be. Yet our choice to go our own way disrupted that harmonious, relational design. Even so, God’s love never wavered. He set a redemption plan in motion to restore our broken relationship with Him and His work of restoration continues today - bringing beauty from brokenness and making all things new.
In Revelation 3:20, Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”
After the Fall, humanity began to hide. Genesis describes Adam and Eve covering themselves with fig leaves, and I often see my own survival strategies as an elaborate, complex fig leaf.
When I imagine replacing "door" with "fig leaf" in that verse, it feels like Jesus is gently saying, “I stand at the fig leaf and knock.” God never forces His way in—and neither will we here. He understands why we hide, and as we come to know Him more, trust grows, and we may find the courage to peel back the fig leaf, little by little.
So, come take a seat by the fire. Whether you linger in the background, feeling the warmth, or move closer at your own pace, you're welcome here.
Like Parker Palmer said in Let Your Life Speak: “The soul is like a wild animal—tough, resilient, savvy, self-sufficient, and yet exceedingly shy... If we are willing to walk quietly into the woods and sit silently for an hour or two at the base of a tree, the creature we are waiting for may well emerge, and out of the corner of an eye we will catch a glimpse of the precious wildness we seek.”
